How We Work?

At Emitota everything is made slowly and with intention. Mitota designs and makes each garment by hand. That means every piece is personal, handmade to order, and made to last.

Brand Values

1. Authentic Expression

Every design celebrates the beauty and boldness of African prints in a modern, elevated way. I create from the heart, staying true to my roots while redefining how African fashion is experienced around the world.

2. Confidence & Empowerment

Emitota is made for women who own their individuality. My designs are crafted to help you feel confident, radiant, and unapologetically yourself — wherever life takes you.

3. Creative Craftsmanship

Each piece is handmade by me, from sketch to stitch. I pour care into every detail, ensuring that each garment is not only beautiful but also a reflection of artistry, patience, and skill.

4. Cultural Celebration

African prints are full of life and meaning — they tell stories, connect generations, and express identity. Emitota honours this heritage by showcasing these fabrics in a refined, contemporary way that speaks to today’s woman.

The process

1. Design and listing

Each style you see on the site begins as a sketch at the worktable. Patterns are drafted by hand, samples are sewn, and finishes are refined before a piece appears in the shop.

2. You place an order

When you order, your garment joins the queue for production. Because each piece is made to order, I do not keep large amounts of stock. This keeps waste low and keeps each piece special.

3. Production time

Most pieces take between 4-6 weeks to make depending on complexity and current order volume. If a piece is especially detailed, the lead time may be longer. You will receive an order confirmation once you make a purchase and a production update when your piece is ready to ship.

4. Quality check

Each garment is inspected carefully. I check seams, colour and finish before it leaves the studio so what you receive meets quality standards for craft.

5. Shipping

After quality checks, I ship your order. For UK customers expect delivery within 3 to 7 business days after shipment. You will receive tracking information once your order is dispatched. For full shipping details see the Shipping Policy.

6. Aftercare and repairs

I build garments to last and stand by my work. If your piece needs repair because of a manufacturing issue, please email hello@emitota.com for support.

Materials and sourcing

I choose materials with care and make all buying decisions myself. Pieces are made from African prints. When you buy an Emitota piece you are choosing thoughtful materials and careful making.

Custom measurements and colours

Custom measurements are welcome. If you would like a custom size, colour, please email hello@emitota.com.

Pricing and fair pay

Emitota is small and handmade by one maker. Prices are set to reflect real craft and to ensure the maker is paid fairly for her time and skill. This is why pieces are handmade to order and released in limited quantities.

Packaging

I use simple, thoughtful packaging that protects your garment and reduces waste. Packaging may vary depending on order size. Reuse and recycling instructions are included with every order.

How to choose your size

Please consult the size guide linked on the product page for measurements and fit notes. If you are unsure, reach out and I will help you choose the best size for your body and style.

Returns and exchanges

Please refer to the returns policy.
